Long Blurb:
Get Ready to Read! launches New, Free Online Tools to Make Pre-Reading Skill-Building Easier Than Ever!
This fall, Get Ready to Read! is helping early-childhood educators get families in on the skill-building game with a variety of easy-to-use resources that are available for free at www.GetReadytoRead.org. Along with tools to make activities easier to implement, and debuting the Transitioning to Kindergarten Tool Kit, the GRTR! program is pleased to announce the launch of a three-part series of webinars focused on building pre-literacy skills.

These Webinars were developed in partnership with the Stern Center for Language and Learning in Williston, VT. The Stern Center is a nonprofit literacy center with over 20 years experience helping children and adults with learning differences reach their full potential. Each hour-long webinar will focus on key early literacy prerequisites: shared book reading, sound awareness and the speech to print connection. The first Webinar is available on the GetReadyToRead.org Web site for downloading. The second and third Webinars are scheduled to take place on October 25 and November 29 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. EST.

Along with the tool kit, www.GetReadytoRead.org now features the Spanish version of the GRTR! screening tool. The Web site is a one-stop shop for skill-building activities, with new word lists and pictures for many of the activity cards available. Getting ready to read has never been this convenient!
