Ask Get Ready to Read! May 2007 Question: Is there an easy way to get to and use the online version of the Get Ready to Read! screening tool? Answer: You're in luck! We have recently updated our Web site to make it even easier to use the online version of the screening tool. 1. Go to the Get Ready to Read! Web site. 2. Click on the yellow box on the left that says, "GET STARTED" or go to the Get Ready to Read! Screening Tool. - 3. You will get to a page called "The Screening Tool." Use the links on this page to:
- a. Take the screening tool in English.
- b. Take the screening tool in Spanish.
- c. Print out an answer sheet if you would like to keep track of your child's responses on paper.
4. Click on one of the "Take the Screening Tool" links, read the directions, and scroll down to click on "Continue to Screening Tool." 5. Read the sample question to your child. Ask your child to point to the answer that he or she thinks is best, and click on that answer. 6. Read the tips below the sample question, and then click on "Start Screening." 7. When the start button appears, click on it to begin the screening tool with your child. Read each question to your child, and ask him or her to point to the answer that he or she thinks is best. 8. For each question, you should click your child’s selection, then click "Next." There are 20 questions. 9. After all 20 questions, click on "Get Score." 10. You will see your child’s score. Be sure to follow up with Get Ready to Read! early literacy activities and lots of reading with your child!
