Online Support for Teachers of All Grades and Content Areas
The United States Department of Education is sponsoring a Teacher-to-Teacher Initiative, providing support to teachers through workshops and eLearning.  Topics include Building Fluency: Do It Well and Do It Right!, Decoding to Encoding, Differentiated Instruction, Sentence Expansion, and Writing in the Content Areas.

Teacher Resources from Pre-K Now
Pre-K Now has developed a Teacher Resource Center with advice on engaging parents in summer learning. Also, be sure to check out the Inside Pre-K blog for tips and stories, and to dialogue with other educators. 

RIF Brings Attention to the Need to Improve Literacy Development of Minority Children
Reading is Fundamental (RIF) has launched a Multicultural Literacy Campaign, bringing attention to the development of early childhood literacy in African-American, Hispanic, and Native American communities.  Included in the campaign is a new Leading to Reading Web site, with stories, nursery rhymes, and other fun activities.

New "E-Books" Available
BookFlix is a new Web site from Scholastic that pairs interactive video storybooks with related nonfiction e-books.  Disney Publishing Group is also planning to join the e-book bandwagon, making favorites like The Jungle Book and Cinderella available for download online.

Read for the Record 2007
On September 20, 2007, Jumpstart’s Read for the Record is asking adults across the country to read the same book on the same day to raise public awareness about disparities in early education.  The program aims to break last year’s record of 150,000 people with this year’s book, The Story of Ferdinand.

Growing and Learning with Native Young Children
The National Center for Rural Early Childhood Learning Initiatives has created two workshop guides to encourage community leaders and educators to use Native languages and traditions in early childhood instruction.

WWC Reviews Beginning Reading Programs
The What Works Clearinghouse (WWC) has released two new intervention reports on Early Intervention in Reading, a program that provides extra instruction to students at risk of failing to read, and Read, Write & Type, a software program for beginning readers that uses writing as a way to learn to read. 

Model Professional Development Policy
Pre-K Now has developed a new resource laying out the best solutions that states have found in addressing issues like degree and salary requirements and training hours to help pre-k teachers obtain higher education.
