GRTR! Across America Get Ready to Read! (GRTR!) provides information about early learning and literacy to parents, educators, and early child care professionals throughout the United States. To date, the screening tool has been used for thousands of 4-year-old children. Get Ready to Read!’s professional development, screening, resource dissemination and advocacy activities are ongoing in centers all across the country. In early 2002, the National Center for Learning Disabilities (NCLD) began piloting GRTR! in two small demonstration sites in Arizona and Maryland. The pilots conducted trainings and data collection on the screening tool use and its impact on early literacy practices. Today, GRTR! continues to reach out to parents and children through GRTR! centers in Georgia and Arizona. In addition, GRTR! fosters relationships with national partners in the fields of education, reading and learning disabilities to provide research-based information to professionals and parents and to help to ensure widespread outreach to underserved populations.
