Here, you will find resources to help your preschooler get ready to learn to read. As your child’s first teacher, you can set him or her in the right direction for a lifetime of reading and learning. - Learn about Get Ready to Read!, a program of the National Center for Learning Disabilities.
Take the Get Ready to Read! screening tool. Play our free animated online games and build essential skills with Get Ready to Read!’s Inky the Octopus and PBS character Gus the Bunny from Between the Lions. Young children learn by doing. Print out our 36 Get Ready to Read! activity cards and add early literacy skill-building to your daily routine. Make your home literacy-friendly place. Print out our Home Literacy Checklist. Watch "Raising Readers," an 8-minute video starring parents and their young children. Though common everyday activities, the video shows fun and easy ways to help young children get ready to read. Visit our resources page for useful Web sites, books, printable resources and early literacy information. Visit the National Center for Learning Disabillities.
